THE QU & A

What are 3 values that you wish to mediate through your work?

Craftsmanship: I believe in the artistry of fashion and the importance of skilled craftsmanship. Each piece is a testament to meticulous workmanship, highlighting the beauty of well-executed details and techniques.

Perfection: Striving for perfection is not just about flawless execution but also about the pursuit of an ideal vision. I aim to create garments that embody a sense of perfection, not in an unattainable way, but as an expression of dedication to the craft and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Innovation: I see innovation as a driving force in the ever-evolving world of fashion. It's about pushing boundaries, experimenting with new concepts, and embracing creativity. Whether through unconventional designs, cutting-edge materials, or avant-garde presentations, I seek to infuse my work with a spirit of innovation.

What are 3 relevant problems that you wish to solve through your work?

Cultural Shift in the New Generation: There is a noticeable shift in values among the new generation, characterized by a lack of appreciation for craftsmanship and a superficial understanding of the industry. I aim to bridge this gap by fostering a deeper understanding and respect for the artistry and skill that goes into fashion. It's not just about flashy advertising for major brands; it's about educating the audience on the true essence of quality and craftsmanship.

Quality Perception in the Fashion Industry: There's a prevalent issue where the fashion industry, from luxury to fast fashion, is often more focused on marketing than delivering genuine quality. I want to challenge this by promoting a return to a time when craftsmanship and quality were paramount. It's about shifting the narrative from big brand advertising to a genuine appreciation for well-made, enduring pieces, regardless of the label.

Environmental Impact and Greenwashing: Many fashion brands, whether high-end or low-cost, engage in greenwashing, portraying an eco-friendly image while contributing to environmental degradation. I am committed to tackling this problem by advocating for transparency in production processes, sustainable materials, and responsible business practices. It's about debunking the illusion of sustainability and encouraging consumers to make informed choices, regardless of the brand's reputation.

THE CONVERSATION

VOLUME VIII - ACCENTS

What do you see as your cultural path and how do you articulate it to the world?

My cultural path is shaped by living in 15 countries, embodying a "world nomad" ethos. I express this cultural diversity by integrating global influences into my work, celebrating the interconnectedness of humanity. Through my creations, I aim to break down cultural barriers, fostering unity and appreciation for our shared experiences.

How do you define change, imperfection and focus? How do they define you?

Change

Change is the greatest asset in life—a constant pursuit for me. Each day, I consciously and unconsciously seek transformation, embracing the fluidity of personal and professional growth. It defines my journey as I navigate the dynamic landscape of life with an open mind and a readiness to adapt.

Imperfection

In the pursuit of perfection, I find beauty in imperfection. Contradictory as it may seem, perfection often lies in embracing the imperfect. I cherish the unique allure of imperfections, recognizing that flawless outcomes can be uninspiring. It's the imperfect details that add character, depth, and authenticity to everything we do, making the journey more intriguing and meaningful.

Focus

My paramount focus has always been on self-improvement and personal development. Rather than being distracted by external influences, I maintain a steady mind on my own journey and career. This unwavering focus on continuous growth has been my guiding principle, propelling me forward and preventing stagnation.

What are the ‘accents’ that make your work authentic?

My work is all about being real and true to myself. I never do anything that doesn't feel right or doesn't align with my own vision and rules. I always listen to my gut and trust myself. The special touches that make my work authentic are the unique prints, patterns, cuttings, and fabrics that reflect my personal style and creativity.

Name a moment of revelation about each other’s character that made you realize something about the world or your belief system.

When Dawid supported me, even though he didn't have a reason to do so. I was at a very early stage in my career, and he not only assisted me professionally but also personally. His guidance helped me understand the complexities of this business and, in doing so, revealed to me the importance of kindness and mentorship in navigating the professional world. This experience significantly shifted my perspective on the power of genuine support.

THE LEADER

Creative Leaders to look up to:

Always admired Cristóbal Balenciaga, the way he played with fabrics and brought designs to life. And Peggy Guggenheim – no need to explain, I just love her.
